Day 1, Saturday. Arrival. Make your own way either by car directly to Ljørdalen or by coach from Oslo City Bus Terminal or Airport Oslo-Gardermoen to Trysil. In Trysil you will be met by our guide. Transfer to Ljørdalen where you will be warmly welcomed at Villmark Lodge. After check-in and dinner you meet your guide who will give you a brief overview what to expect in the next few days.
Day 2 + 3, Sunday and Monday. 2 day trekking tour through the wilderness accompanied by sled dog. After breakfast transfer to the Villmark Husky Farm with more than 160 well educated and well trained sled dogs (mainly Alaskan Huskies and Norwegian Hounds). The Villmark Husky Farm is situated approx. 10-15 minutes outside of the village of Ljørdalen in the hills. It is surrounded by unique nature and wilderness preserves protecting hundreds of years old primeval forest, precious wetlands and swamps and a rich flora and fauna. At the husky farm you will met your four-legged travel companion who will accompany you on your two day trekking tour through the unspoilt wilderness. Equipped with a dog trekking belt and a dog backpack you will start your guided trekking adventure. Discover the surrounding nature and wildlife preserves on some spectacular hiking trails. Overnight in a basic mountain hut in the wilderness without electricity and running water. Here you can spend some evening hours fishing. Or you may wit a bit of luck observe some of the wild Nordic animals (e.g. moose) at dusk. Dinner will be prepared together at the wooden stove in the mountain hut. After dinner you might spend the later evening altogether around the wooden stove or an open fire enjoying the white Nordic summer nights.
Accompanied by your sled dog and led by your guide you continue your trekking adventure the next morning after breakfast. Again the tour will get you close into the wilderness and the nature and wildlife preserves. Enjoy the spectacular scenery, great panoramic views, the tranquillity and the immense vastness of this unspoilt and wild landscape. Return to the husky farm and the Villmark Lodge in the afternoon.
Day 4, Tuesday. Horseback riding tour on Norwegian horses into the mountains. Today you depart for a full day horseback riding tour on Norwegian horses into the highlands and mountains. After breakfast short transfer to the horse farm. After a comprehensive instruction you will receive your horse for today's ride. Small trails lead through deep forest up into the open meadows and the vast highlands offering great panoramic views on the surrounding mountains and into the valleys. On the way you will stop for some small barbecue at an open fire. Finally your guide will lead you back to the horse farm in the afternoon. Transfer back to the Villmark Lodge.
Day 5 + 6, Wednesday and Thursday. 2 day canoeing trip on the Fulusjön lake system. After breakfast you depart for your two day canoeing adventure. Transfer (approx. 1 hour) across the border to the Fulusjön lake in Sweden. The Fulusjön lake system is a canoeing paradise right in the wilderness. While paddling the waterways of the Fulusjön lake system enjoy the peaceful tranquillity around you and discover many hidden idyllic places from your canoe: idyllic bays, small islands and hidden beaches. The necessary equipment for your two day adventure is carried along in your canoe. Our boats are air filled canoes that can easily held up to 3 persons including their luggage. In the afternoon your guide will take you to an idyllic place at the lake shore where you will altogether pitch a typical Sami lavvo tent with a central open fireplace altogether. Herein you will also spent the night together with your co-travellers and your guide. When the tent is pitched you may take the opportunity to try to catch a fish. If you need any tips or assistance our guide will be happy to assist you with his experience in fishing. And maybe you will fortunate and may contribute your catch to this evening's dinner.
After an impressive night in the lavvo tent right in the middle of the wilderness you continue your canoeing trip the next after breakfast on river like waterways to the southern part of the Fulusjön lake system. Again you will discover many idyllic places and enjoy great views on today's canoeing trip. Finally, in the afternoon you will go ashore again and will be transferred back to Villmark Lodge.
Day 7, Friday. Day at leisure. Day at leisure. You may choose to relax at Villmark Lodge (e.g. enjoying the sauna) or discover the surroundings on some additional hiking or canoeing trips.
