Itinerary:
Day 1, Saturday. Arrival. Make your own way either by car directly to Ljørdalen or by coach from Oslo City Bus Terminal or Airport Oslo-Gardermoen to Trysil. In Trysil you will be met by our guide. Transfer to Ljørdalen where you will be warmly welcomed at Villmark Lodge. After check-in and dinner you meet your guide who will give you a brief overview what to expect in the next few days.
Day 2, Sunday. Canoeing on the Ljøra river. Today we depart on a full day guided canoeing trip on the Ljøra river. Just behind the Villmark Lodge we will board the canoes. Our boats are air filled canoes that can easily held up to 3 persons and their luggage. Once on the river enjoy the amazing tranquillity and the beautiful scenery. We paddle through immense forests, pass by lush meadows, vast grasslands and picturesque little red houses and discover remote beaches and bays. Some rapids which are easy to navigate will provide additional fun and excitement. Return transfer to Villmark Lodge in the late afternoon.
Day 3, Monday. Rafting Trip. Today we spend rafting on the Ljøra river. It starts with assembling our catamaran rafts altogether. If everybody gives a hand it is soon done. The rafts have a big wooden platform which is assembled on two air filled hull floaters and provides plenty of space to hold a small group of people each. We journey downstream along the edge of the Fulufjell National Park towards the Swedish border. If you are lucky you might already today get a chance to observe some of the Nordic animals such as moose or beaver that love to hide on the tranquil banks of the river from aboard your catamaran raft. Return transfer to Villmark Lodge in the late afternoon.
Day 4, Tuesday. White water rafting on Trysilelva. Welcome to Trysilelva, one of the most popular and exciting rivers for white water rafting in Norway, that cuts deep through the unspoilt Norwegian wilderness. Early start with a transfer to Trysil and further to Myrdal where our rafting adventure starts. It starts with an introduction by a well-experienced and professional rafting guide into the use of the rafting equipment, technique and safety instructions. Then we get into the river. Ahead of us are 12 exciting kilometres with many 2 - 3+ class rapids (Class 2: rapids of moderate difficulty with passages clear. Class 3: waves numerous, high, irregular; rocks; eddies; rapids with passages clear though narrow, requiring some expertise in maneuvering) guaranteeing lots of excitement, fun and action. But there are also some calm sections that allow you to relax and enjoy the great views from the river. At the end of the rafting tour a warm lunch is served in a typical Sami Lavvo tent. Return transfer to Villmark Lodge in the late afternoon.
Day 5, Wednesday. Day at leisure. You might want to relax in the sauna of Villmark Lodge, sunbathing at the banks of the Ljøra river or discover the Ljøra valley on your own on one of the many interesting hiking trails. Hiking maps and recommendations for some interesting hikes are available. Or you might choose to participate in one of the many optional activities we offer for today: Full day guided canoeing trip on a beautiful lake system at the Swedish border (approx. 75,- € per person, min. 2 pax), full day guided canyoning tour (approx. 119,- € per person, min. 2 pax) or horseback riding - several hours' mountain rides (approx. 99,- € per person, min. 2 pax). Or what about renting a quad bike for own excursions (1/2 day: approx. 90,- €, full day: approx. 150,- € per quad bike)?
Day 6, Thursday. Beaver, Moose & Bear Watching Safari & Villmark Night. Day at leisure until late afternoon. Chance to get up late and have a late breakfast and to relax. Alternatively there are various activities to participate in (e.g. see day 4). After dinner around 6 p.m. we depart for a 1 - 1.5 hour beaver safari either by boat or foot (depending on the best success rate). Thereafter we continue on the our moose & bear watching safari and Villmark night. Your guide will lead you into the unspoilt Norwegian wilderness. He knows the best places to observe some moose and brown bear and/or their traces in their natural environment. Soon you will discover some tracks of brown bear along the way – some scratches in a trunk, some paw prints on the moist soil or some abandoned bear's den. In springtime the chances are excellent to observe some bears in this area. In summertime however you need to have some extra fortune as the bears migrate through vast forest areas on their search for food. Still the experiences of tonight will capture you! Experience when the wilderness becomes alive at dusk. All you need is a bit of luck to encounter moose and deer, fox and badger and lots of other species tonight. Also lynx and wolf might pass by. Return to Villmark Lodge around midnight.
Day 7, Friday. Trekking in Fulufjell National Park. After breakfast transfer to the starting point of our hiking trail through the superb scenery of the Fulufjell N.P. On this spectacular walk you may enjoy the kaleidoscope of an undisturbed and unspoilt wilderness of endless plateaus and tablelands covered with flowering heather vegetation, of remote vast wetlands, primeval forests, impressive ravines and crystal clear lakes and creeks. Your guide will show you the most spectacular places within the National Park. Highlight of the day will be a visit to 93 m high Njupeskär Fall, Sweden's highest waterfall. Visit to the National Park's Visitor's centre that provides a good insight into flora and fauna of the National Park. Return transfer to Villmark Lodge in the late afternoon. Farewell barbecue dinner in a typical Samí Lavvo tent.
