Experience Norway's fantastic winter countryside !!

Experience Norway's fantastic winter countryside! Enjoy the lifetime experience of dog sledding! A fairy tale scenery of frozen lakes, winter forests and spectacular mountains welcomes you!

Villmark Husky Farm and Villmark Lodge in Ljørdalen are the authentic and comfortable base for your dog sledding experience. Located only three hours drive from Oslo they are set in a spectacular mountain area at the edge of Fulufjäll National Park right at the Norwegian-Swedish border. Due to the short distance from Norway's capital a holiday in Ljørdalen safes time and money. Comparing to other destinations in northern Scandinavia Oslo is conveniently and inexpensively accessible from Central Europe. To continue to Ljørdalen you can use the comfortable coach service of NOR-WAY Bussekspress. It connects Oslo City Centre and Oslo Gardermoen Airport frequently and conveniently with Trysil where you will be met by a driver of the Villmark Lodge.

The southern location of Ljørdalen offers even more advantages: Not everywhere in the North the sun rises in December and January. In Ljørdalen however even the shortest day of the year (December 21) is still quite long and offers more than 5 ½ hours of daylight. Plenty of time to finish your dog sledding tours in daylight. Already from February onwards the days in Ljørdalen a re longer than in Central Europe. Despite its southern location Ljørdalen is considered to guaranteed have snow from November to April. Due to its inland location Ljørdalen is one of Norway's coldest regions and known for its constant weather conditions.

In this unspoiled and marvellous winter setting that verges on fairy tale idyllic you will be welcomed by more than 160 huskies (Alaskan Huskies and Norwegian Hounds) and the unique, cosy and authentic atmosphere on our Husky Farm. The Villmark Husky Farm is the ideal location to explore the world of dog sledding. You and your co-travellers will gain a thorough understanding of the basic commands, the techniques and sled control. Our experienced multilingual guides will train you on handling, harnessing and care of your assigned dogs and essential elements in building a good rapport with your team. You will find that it is the dogs themselves and the special relationship you develop over the days that becomes the most meaningful part of your experience.

You will have your own team of 4 – 6 dogs and drive the sled by your own. The length of the tours will vary between 15 and 50 km depending on weather conditions and the skills of the group. Look forward to a life time experience when you will drive your sled on exciting trails through this spectacular Norwegian fjell area where even Amundsen trained his dogs for his extreme polar expeditions.
