The spectacular scenery of and around Fulufjell National Park is a paradise for outdoor holidays and a great range of adventurous activities – also for handicapped people. In cooperation with Paralympics double gold medal winner Karl Einar Henriksen we have been able to put together some great tours and itineraries for handicapped people offering fantastic experiences and a rich diversity in activities. Dog sledding tours, adventure weeks and skiing courses in winter. Husky tours with purpose built carriages, rafting trips, wildlife watching and many more in summer. No matter if you come in summer or winter it will be a lifetime experience!
It is a pleasure to be able to offer our dog sledding and adventure tours also to handicapped people by using our purpose built dog sleds, cross country sleds and alpine mono skis that have been especially designed for the needs of handicapped people. Also in summer we use especially designed husky carriages and rafts that are easy to use, provide a maximum of safety and enable us to offer also our summer adventure tours to handicapped people.
All our tours that we offer for handicaps are accompanied by well experienced multilingual guides who are well trained in providing services for handicapped people. The German manager and owner of Villmark Kennel Norge has more than 10 years of experience and knowledge in caring for handicapped people, gained by former work experiences in health care. It has been his personal concern to enable handicapped people to experience the adventure of dog sledding themselves and to create tours that are suitable for handicapped.
All tours, all facilities and the whole equipment (sleds, rafts, carriages) have been developed in close cooperation with disabled persons and are also constantly tested by handicaps themselves if they are built to the needs of and are suitable for handicapped people. Usually you will be able to participate in our tours (especially our dog sledding tours) without external help and mostly you will join the same tours that non-handicaps do. It will be an experience of your lifetime when you drive a dog sled all by your own through the beautiful wintry scenery feeling the power of dogs or when you paddle your raft downstream the Ljøra river while watching out for beaver and moose.
Our tours are suitable in the same way for handicapped and non-handicapped. It is our personal concern to run the tours together with non-handicapped whenever possible to gain an unforgettable common experience. Our tours do not require any minimum number of guests, all tours suitable for handicapped have guaranteed departure.
Your accommodation will be in Villmark Lodge where apartments and central building including reception, restaurant and bar are also all suitable for handicaps. Getting to Ljørdalen is also easy, convenient and fast. The best way is to travel by plane to International Airport Oslo-Gardermoen. From there NOR-WAY Bussekspress operates frequent services by express coach to Trysil where you will be picked up by our driver. The coaches are suitable for handicaps, too. They are not equipped with ramps though but they do fulfil the requirements by Norwegian law and provide easy access to the coach by personal assistance through the driver. On request we can also arrange private transfer from / to Oslo-Gardermoen.
Sleds and Vehicles
Due to many years of experience in caring and servicing for people with disabilities and restricted mobility and due to Karl Einar Henriksen, double gold medal winner of the Paralympic Games in Nagano and world champion, who constantly assists us with his expert knowledge, we are well prepared to cater for the needs of people with restricted mobility. Enabled by this thorough knowledge we started to develop and design special sleds and vehicles suitable for people with restricted mobility in order to give everyone the unique possibility to experience dog sledding, cross country skiing, canoeing, rafting, wildlife watching etc. oneself. All vehicles and sleds have been thoroughly tested and still are constantly tested by Karl Einar Henriksen.
Handicap – Dog Sled:
Ergonomically designed carbon construction, equipped with glass-fiber-carbon runners with double sinter lines. Brakes are made from aircraft aluminium with hard metal points. The sled has excellent performance in running straight. Steering by touching the snow surface with your hands is easy. The sled will follow every touch immediately. The low centre of gravity and the especially balanced camber of the runners provide a mamimum of safety against tipping over. Very easy to handle. The sleds designed by us are also available for purchase. Sleds available for purchase (not the ones used for our dog sledding tours) are equipped with an external brake: The sled can be drawn by a person or a dog. If drawn by a dog a person can control the sled by the external brake. In this version the sled has been proved to be a popular vehicle to transport disabled people on a snow surface. As such it is used e.g. in some French skiing areas.
Handicap – Cross Country Sled
Light aluminium construction equipped with cross country skis and common „Rotefella“ bindings. Slightly bend seating position on ergonomically formed seat cushion. Double safte belts. The sled will be produced individually to fit your body-size. Track width for prepared cross country trails. Perfect vehicle in winter for cross country trails and offroad.

Handicap – Husky Carriage
Carriage for summer use with excellent performance in running, a maximum of safety against tipping over and a maximum of safety through hydraulic brakes. Easy to handle.

Handicap - Mono - Ski for Alpine Skiing
